Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 2, 2026 · Last updated: November 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Auratope LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company ("Auratope," "we," "us"), collects, uses and shares information when you use the Auratope mobile app and website at auratope.com (together, the "Service").
1. Information we collect
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Account information | Your email address and sign-in details (for example a one-time link or password, stored in hashed form by our authentication provider), account ID, and account creation date. |
| Waitlist sign-ups | If you join our website waitlist, your email address, used only to tell you about the Auratope launch. You can ask us to remove it at any time. |
| Plan and subscription | Your plan (Free or Pro), plan expiry, and subscription status from our subscription provider and the app store (product, store, renewal or expiry date, and subscription events). We do not receive your full payment card number; Apple or Google process payments. |
| Usage information | Searches and requests you make, the reports you view, new analyses you request, article checks you run, and timestamps. We use this to apply plan limits, prevent abuse and improve the Service. |
| Follows and alerts | Companies, people or organizations you follow, and alerts associated with them. |
| Feedback | Your answer to "Do you feel aligned with this perception?" (yes, no or mixed) and any optional comment (up to 280 characters), linked to the report you rated. |
| Article checks | Links or article text you paste for checking, and the resulting analysis. Please don't paste private or sensitive information into an article check. |
| Technical data | Basic log data such as IP address, device and app version, and error logs, collected automatically by our hosting providers for security and reliability. |
We do not knowingly collect precise location, contacts, photos, health data or other sensitive personal data.
2. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
- To provide reports, article checks, follows and alerts.
- To apply Free and Pro plan limits and manage subscriptions.
- To prevent fraud, abuse and excessive use.
- To understand and improve the quality of our analyses, including using feedback.
- To communicate with you about your account, the Service or your requests.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
3. Feedback and aggregate insights
Feedback you give on a report is combined with other users' feedback to create aggregate statistics per company, person or organization (for example, the number of responses and the percentage who felt aligned, mixed or not aligned). We may show these aggregate statistics in the Service and may share or license them to businesses and other third parties, including the organizations covered in reports.
When we share these insights, they are aggregated or de-identified: they will not include your email address, account ID or other information that reasonably identifies you, and we take reasonable measures to prevent re-identification. We do not share your individual comments together with your identity. If an individual comment is ever shown in aggregate insights, we will remove information that identifies you. You can choose not to give feedback; it is always optional.
4. Service providers we use
We share information with service providers that process it on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of it:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase (United States) | Database hosting, authentication (email sign-in) and backend functions. |
| Netlify (United States) | Website hosting and the waitlist sign-up form. |
| xAI | AI model that generates analyses. Search terms and pasted article links or text are sent to produce results. |
| Tavily | Web search and extraction of public web pages used as sources. |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management (receives your account ID and purchase status, not card details). |
| Apple App Store and Google Play | Payments and subscription billing, under their own privacy policies. |
| Website hosting provider | Hosting auratope.com. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information).
5. Sale, targeted advertising and tracking
We do not sell your personal data, do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, do not use it for targeted advertising, and do not use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you. We do not include third-party advertising SDKs, and we do not link your data with other companies' data to track you across their apps or websites. Our service providers (Section 4) process data only on our behalf.
The aggregate feedback insights described in Section 3 are de-identified and are not personal data. We maintain and use de-identified data only in de-identified form, we will not attempt to re-identify it, and we contractually require anyone who receives it not to re-identify it. We do not sell or license sensitive personal data in any form.
Because we do not sell or share personal data, there is nothing to opt out of. If this ever changes, we will update this policy first, provide a "Your Privacy Rights" opt-out link, and honor browser opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control.
6. Data retention
- Account, plan, follows and feedback: kept while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account.
- Usage records and article checks: kept while your account is active (to apply plan limits and show past checks) and deleted when you delete your account.
- Subscription transaction records from the app stores or our subscription provider: kept as long as needed for billing, fraud prevention, tax, accounting and legal claims.
- Security and server logs: kept for a limited period set by our hosting providers, then deleted.
- Backups: overwritten on a rolling schedule; deleted data may remain in backups until they expire.
- Aggregate, de-identified statistics may be kept after your account is deleted, because they do not identify you.
Reports about companies, people and organizations are shared content: when you request a new report, it becomes available to other users, but your identity is not shown with it.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account). This permanently deletes your account and the personal data linked to it, including your profile, follows, usage records, feedback and article checks. We may keep limited subscription transaction records as described in Section 6. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel it in your device's subscription settings. You can also request deletion without the app by emailing support@auratope.com from your account email with the subject "Delete my account"; we will confirm and complete the deletion.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act (Minn. Stat. §§ 325M.10–325M.21) and the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you rights over your personal data. Whether or not a particular law applies to us, we offer the following to all users. You may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal data we have about you, and get a portable copy.
- Correct inaccurate personal data.
- Delete your personal data.
- Opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising and profiling with legal or similarly significant effects (we do none of these).
- Under Minnesota law, question the result of certain profiling decisions and obtain a list of specific third parties to which we have disclosed your personal data.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To make a request, email support@auratope.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify your request (usually by confirming your account email) and respond within 45 days, as allowed by law. You may use an authorized agent. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying with the subject "Privacy Appeal"; we will respond within the time required by law, and if you are unhappy with the result you may contact your state Attorney General.
9. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls and database row-level security. No system is completely secure.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it. We do not sell or share the personal data of any user, of any age.
Accessibility
If you need this policy in another format, email support@auratope.com.
11. International users
We are based in the United States and our data is stored in the United States. If you use the Service from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new date. For material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before the change applies, and we will not use previously collected data in a materially different way without your consent where the law requires it.
